Taxis in Hightae

There’s no taxi rank in the village, but four solid local firms run out of Lockerbie, just five miles up the road. They all pick up from Hightae – just give them your exact address when you ring. Perfect for late nights, airport dashes, shopping trips or when the bus timetable doesn’t work for you.

D&G Council Taxicard Scheme

If you have a mobility impairment that makes public transport tricky, you can apply for the Council’s Taxicard scheme. It gives eligible residents £100 a year towards taxi fares anywhere in Dumfries & Galloway (and beyond in some cases). PA Taxis accepts the vouchers directly. You can download the application form from the Dumfries & Galloway Council website or pop in to the Community Council office if you need a hand filling it in.

Quick Booking Tips

  • Call rather than text for the first booking – it’s quicker and they can confirm details.
  • Let them know if you need a child seat, wheelchair space or extra room for luggage.
  • Airport runs (Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle) are straightforward – just give them the flight time.
  • Friday and Saturday nights book up fast, especially around closing time.
