Electricity in Hightae
Electricity to Hightae, Heck, Greenhill and Smallholm is delivered by SP Energy Networks (the local Distribution Network Operator). You can choose any electricity supplier you like – there is no single “only provider” like there is for water.
Current price cap (1 July – 30 September 2026)
The Ofgem price cap sets the maximum you can be charged on a standard variable tariff. From 1 July 2026 the typical annual bill for a household using electricity and gas on direct debit is £1,663.
Most homes in the Royal Four Towns do not have mains gas – they use heating oil or LPG – so that dual-fuel figure is a UK average, not what a local household actually pays. The electricity unit rate and standing charge below are the useful numbers here.

These are average UK figures and include VAT. Your actual rate may vary slightly depending on your supplier and postcode. Fixed tariffs are often cheaper – compare them using a price comparison site.
Next price cap (1 October – 31 December 2026)
Ofgem has already announced the next quarter. From 1 October 2026 the typical dual-fuel direct-debit bill rises to £1,723.

From 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027 there is no VAT on electricity. Gas stays at 5% VAT. Because of that change, the October figures are not directly comparable with earlier quarters.
